Aims and objectives
Hilton in the Community Foundation was registered in millennium
year as the charitable trust for Hilton International and LivingWell.
This was an imaginative statement of intent by the Board, demonstrating
a bold and progressive commitment to corporate social responsibility.
Under the banner Supporting local communities worldwide
the charity is dedicated to making a real difference to those most
in need – wherever Hilton operates.

How the money is raised
As at 31 March 2004 close to £2.5million had been raised,
through the generosity of the Hilton team, our suppliers, guests
and supporters.
A large proportion of income is generated through fundraising initiatives
by the Hilton hotels in the UK and Ireland and LivingWell clubs.
Every hotel and Hilton centre has its own charity representative
– the Foundation Champion.

Who benefits
The Foundation makes grants to a wide range of charities which meet
one of our chosen areas of focus:
- Young people and education
- Hospitality training and employment
- International disaster relief
Up to 25% of income will be set aside for international disaster
relief to maintain a reserve of £250,000.
The Foundation Champions are encouraged to nominate local charities
for grants. Up to 50% of the money raised by each hotel may
be allocated locally, after authorisation by the Foundation trustees.
For more information about the charities supported by Hilton in
the Community Foundation in 2003 see Where
the Money Goes.
