Created especially for sale in hotels across the region, the exciting range of ducks incorporate new models into their feathered collection, including Dream Careers and a Spring Set. 'Ducks for Change' invites guests to buy a pack of three novelty ducks and in so doing raise funds for the Foundation, The project started as a small, successful initiative at one of the hotels, and since being taken up by HCF in a trial phase it is now running as a full central campaign through our trading arm (HCF Trading Limited). It has quickly grown into a far-reaching and novel way of promoting the work of the Foundation whilst raising money for numerous local charities across Europe. Sets are sold for £5 or €6. After production costs, a cost of £1 or €1 is given to good causes. To date, participating hotels across Europe have sold 85,609 sets of ducks and the funds raised from their sales have contributed to over 100 grants that the Foundation has awarded to charities across the Europe. Hotels participating in Ducks for Change are able to nominate charities to receive the funds from a proportion of the sales meaning that local charities can directly benefit from local sales. For example, Hilton Prague and Hilton Prague old Town used the funds that they had raised from Ducks for Change to contribute to a grant they were awarding to Pestra Spolecnost, a local charity that provides young people with disabilities canine friends that can help them to carry out everyday activities and gain more independence. The money awarded was used by the charity to train Bentley, an assistance dog that will support Jakub, a young child who suffers from various disabilities including visual impairments and epilepsy. Bentley will now help Jakub to improve his motor skills and provide support and relief to Jakub as he goes through demanding rehabilitation and speech therapy. The impact that Bentley has had on Jakub’s life is immense, not only benefitting him physically but also with his mental development. Whilst being incredibly beneficial to local charities, the ducks remain popular amongst guests with different ranges being launched on a seasonal basis giving everyone the chance to collect different editions. Each range celebrates different cultures as well as encouraging young people to think about what they want to be later in life as the ducks demonstrate different professions and life choices.
