Around the World in a Day

Brakes Group are delighted to be taking part in Around the World in a Day, a fun-filled community fundraising event initiated by Hilton in the Community Foundation and hosted by Hilton Worldwide’s portfolio of hotels in Europe. Brakes team members will be able to nominate a Children’s Charity that they would like their fundraising to go towards, either by depot or by region.

Our aim is to cumulatively travel the circumference of the Earth in just one day whilst raising all important funds for children and young people in your local community. This year –with your help – we want to go round twice!

For a registration fee of £5/€5 you will receive a support pack with details of the day and fundraising information, an event t-shirt, and an invitation to the Heroes’ Reception. There is no minimum sponsorship target – just raise as much as you can! All net funds raised will be donated to the nominated local charity, cause or school selected by yourselves and the hosting hotel. This annual summer event has already supported 158 different schools and good causes in our local communities.

Our main aims for the event are:

To clock up miles to help us cumulatively travel the circumference of the earth - Twice , 49,803.10 miles
Raise all important funds for a local children’s charities and causes
To most importantly to have fun!

Most hotels host an event that includes one or both of the following event concepts however events vary depending on the hotel so we would recommend phoning the hotel for more detailed plans.

We have made a shortlist of hotels organising an event within a 15mile radius of a Brakes office or depot With up to 80 events taking place all across the UK this summer, there’s bound to be one near you. Places are limited though so register now to make sure you don’t miss out! Individual and team places are available.

Around the World in a Day is usually fun walk along a set route for people of all ages and abilities. You don’t need to be super fit to enter as you can run, jog, hop, dance or walk the route, all you really need is some motivation and a great sense of fun. Fancy dress is positively encouraged at this event for all the family!

Team Challenge is an extreme physical challenge for teams of four people with an 7-hour time limit to complete as many miles as possible on cardiovascular gym equipment. Your challenge as a team is to keep your piece of equipment in action for the full 7 hours (starting at 9am).

With up to 80 events taking place all across the UK this summer, there’s bound to be one near you. Places are limited though so register now to make sure you don’t miss out! Individual and team places are available. Here's a list of all our event locations.
