What is Around the World in Day?

Around the World in a Day is a community event organised to raise important funds for loacl causes. Each Community has its own needs and special causes and Around the Wolrd in a Day is a unique way to help many of them. Our main aims from the event are:

To clock up miles to help us cumulatively travel the circumference of the earth, 24,901.55 miles, in just one day
Raise all important funds for a local children’s charities and causes
To most importanly to have fun!

Most hotels host an event that includes one or both of the following event concepts:

Miles4Fun is a fun walk along a set route (usually around the hotel or in the local park)
for people of all ages and abilities. Click logo for more details

TeamChallenge is a physical challenge for a team of four adults of clocking up as many miles as possible within a seven-hour timeframe on a piece of cardio-vascular gym equipment. Click logo for more details

How do I raise money?

When you register for an event, you will be sent a sponsorship form in your participants pack, as well as top tips for fundraising and instructions on how to set up an on-line fundraising page (on Justgiving.co.uk). Your challenge is to raise as much money as possible through asking friends, family and colleagues to sponsor you for participating in the event and clocking up miles. Some of your donors may prefer to sponsor you a set fee for taking part in the event, whilst others may prefer to pledge a fixed amount per mile completed, but either way, every pound raised through sponsorship will be given to the local children’s cause, as nominated by the hosting hotel.

As well as all sponsorship money going to the local children’s cause, there will also be plenty of additional fundraising activities taking place at the event, and all the net funds raised from these will also go to the cause.

How do I register?

You can register by either completing an on-line registration form (click here to go to directly to form) or alternatively by picking up an Around the World in a Day leaflet from a Hilton hotel and completing and returning the tear-off registration form.

Registration costs £5 per person (under 5’s are free but do not receive a t-shirt) and this covers the costs of running the event. In return for this, you will receive a support pack containing an event t-shirt, a sponsorship form and fundraising information.

Participants can choose whether they’d prefer to pay their £5 fee at registration, or alternatively, the £5 fee can be deducted from their sponsorship money when they return this with their form (see full terms and conditions).
